William Henry Fremantle (Dean)

The Very Reverend Charles Mansfield Owen was an eminent Anglican priest in the last decades of the 19th century and the first two of the 20th. He was born on 12 December 1831 the second son of Thomas Fremantle, 1st Baron Cottesloe and educated at Eton and Balliol [“Who was Who”1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X] . A Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford he was ordained in 1855 and two years later became Vicar of Lewknor then Chaplain to the Archibald Campbell ,Bishop of London and went with him in the same post when he was appointed Archbishop of Canterbury seven years later. Appointed to be a Cathedral Canon at Canterbury in 1882 [ [http://thepeerage.com/p26280.htm the Peerage.com] ] , in 1895 he became Dean of Ripon.
