In 1921 on August 17th the Cardiganshire football league was formed at a meeting held in the University town of Lampeter, 6 representatives of 6 football teams were present. The teams being represented were Lampeter F.C, Padarn F.C, Aberystwyth Battery F.C, Parish Hall United F.C, Newcastle Emlyn F.C and Aberayron F.C.

Cardiganshire League Division 1

Currently there are 12 teams in Division 1, each team Plays 11 Home Games and 11 Away Games.If a team gains promotion from Cardiganshire Division 1 they join the Spar Mid Wales League (subject to suitable ground facilities)

There are 3 other leagues running parallel to the Cardiganshire League that feed the Spar Mid Wales League. These are the Aberystwyth League, the Montgomeryshire League First and the Mid Wales South League.

The Following teams are currently in the Cardiganshire League Division 1 for the 2008/2009 Season.
