Janette Renee Smith (born February 23, 1966) is currently the Director of Media for Fred Hammond Family Entertainment Inc.(FHFE) - an independent entertainment company headed by Grammy Award winning gospel artist
Fred Hammond . Prior to joining FHFE, Smith served as the Executive Director of Media forCreflo Dollar Ministries (2002 -2007) which has a broadcast reach of nearly 1 billion homes worldwide. Smith also hosts an "Ask DIY" segment and Telly Award-winning "Enable Your Home" for theDIY Network and onHGTV 's specials for "Habitat for Humanity". She's also the former host ofGood Day Atlanta , andGood Morning Texas .Personal life
Janette Smith was raised in a military family; her father John E. Smith spent most of his life in the Air Force, retiring as a Colonel. Janette attended
Montessori school and the first grade inTehran , Iran. In 1983 her family moved toHuntsville, Alabama where Smith attendedAlabama A&M University . During this time, Smith had already begun working in in television, starting at WAFF-48NBC as a secretary and camera operator in 1987.Career
Eventually, Smith was promoted to the main anchorwoman position for WAFF’S 5pm and 10pm newscasts. Her move to main anchor made her the second African-American woman to ever anchor a prime time newscast in the Huntsville market. Smith moved to Cincinnati to continue her career at
WCPO , and then Dallas, Texas, as co-host of the "Good Morning Texas" program onWFAA Channel 8. In 2000 Smith ended her news career atWAGA Fox 5 as co-host of "Good Day Atlana" and fill-in host for the noon newscast.Janette Smith is often credited as Janette R.
