Bandaranayaka College is a boys' secondary school in
Gampaha district,Sri Lanka . It is the foremost college in the district.Key facts:

On 10.09.1918 this school was establish as “Henerathgoda seewali Buddhist school” at the place where Gm/Yashodara Devi balika vidyalaya situated at present. Then it was transferred as “Henerathgoda senior secondary school” and in 1949, it was established as the “Henerathgoda secondary English college” at this magnificent location. Finally it was transferred as Bandaranayake vidyalaya, Gampaha.
Mr. Charles Samarasooriya was the first principal. On 13.02.1923 it was advanced as a first grade school. When it was establish in present location Mr. Jinadasa Munasinhe was the principal of it. It had been a mixed school up to 198’s. Science then it had obtained successful results and achievements in both educational as well as extracurricular activities. On 25.05.1993 it had become to the national level as “Bandaranayake College”.Today there are about 4000 students having education in all subjects which are included in new educational system from grade 6-13. In advance level section students can learn in Maths, science agriculture, commerce and arts streams. Including tree foreign language, students can learn 4 subjects in advance level streams.
In 2002 an English medium class has been started. It has reached its extreme attainments education field annually.
Extra curricular activities consisted of , 15 games 16 students association in various fields of subjects.further , school has obtain many international awards in dancing , music and arts , cadet platoons , western band , eastern band , scouts , environment society , red cross unit are been acted in the college now. In 1994 cadet platoon has won the most excellent award of ‘Herman Lorse’ and in 1992, 1993, 1994 college eastern band has won E.A.P.Abesinghe Trophy. With all of those efforts our main and excellent objective of all special projects which are conducted in the school successfully is the production of a well-balanced and disciplinary Sri Lankan citizen
X-Ban Exhibition
The term X-Ban has been created in the sense” The Exhibition held in Bandaranayake College”. This exhibition was held for the first time in1993 to celebrate the75th anniversary of the school.
From that exhibition onwards X-Ban has been held in every four years. The supreme talents and the marvelous creativity of the students of Bandaranayke College who expand the horizons of education can be well seen in the exhibition “The X-Ban 2008” which is the result of extreme talent and unity will be a great success.
