Punct (Romanian for "Point") was a Romanian weekly art magazine, published from 1924 to 1925. Founded and directed by
Scarlat Callimachi it was edited byVictor Brauner andStephan Roll . Although the periodical was subtitled “'A Review of Constructivist Art” it was dedicated not only toconstructivism (art) , but also covered other forms ofabstract art having also strong links toDadaism , due to contributions byTristan Tzara . Punct was the third important avant-garde magazine published in Romania, followingContimporanul and the single issue of75HP .It was illustrated withlinocuts by Romanian artists among which
Marcel Janco ,Miliţa Petraşcu ,Victor Brauner ,János Mattis-Teutsch ,M. H. Maxy as well as by foreign abstract artists such asVictor Servranckx orKurt Schwitters and others. Inspired byViking Eggeling 's films, Janco composed a formal alphabet for 'Punct' that resembled the Eggeling's abstract signs on film. The magazine published literary work by Romanian writers (Ion Vinea ,Stephan Roll ,Ilarie Voronca and others), poems by French language poets (Philippe Soupault ,Louis Emié ,Georges Linze ) articles on art by Dutch and German painters (Theo van Doesburg Kurt Schwitters ,Herwarth Walden )References
