Formidable is an open source application development framework published under the GNU General Public License, and based on the TYPO3 content management system.Formidable is programmed in PHP and exploited with XML documents, and acts as a high-level abstraction layer on top of TYPO3.

It features smart template engine, reusable web widgets, Ajax programming and event handling, produces XHTML valid code and allows user-accessibility thanks to the unobtrusive javascript technique.
