Bruce Henderson (born
December 18 ,1946 ), also known as Bruce B. Henderson, is the author of more than 20 nonfiction books, and teaches writing courses atStanford University . He is a member ofThe Authors Guild .Henderson was born in
Oakland ,California .After service in the U.S. Navy as an aerologist aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. "Ranger" (CVA-61) during the
Vietnam War , and following California community and state college, he worked as a newspaper reporter. A magazine career included time as an editor at "New West" and "California Magazine ", and bylines in publications such as "Esquire ", "Playboy " and "Reader's Digest ".
