next_route=900U.S. Route 830, or US 830, was a
U.S. Highway which ran between a junction with U.S. Route 97 near the city ofMaryhill, Washington and a junction with U.S. Route 101 nearIlwaco, Washington . The route still (mostly) exists; however it is currently signed as State Route 14 between Maryhill andVancouver, Washington , Interstate 5 between Vancouver and Longview, State Route 432 for a short stretch through Longview; and State Route 4 from Longview to the western terminus near Ilwaco.When it existed; US 830 was the highest numbered route in the U.S. Highway system (and remains the highest U.S. route number ever used). The highest numbered route still in existence is
U.S. Route 730 .The number suggests that U.S. 830 was a
spur route ofU.S. Route 30 . While 830 and 30 never connect, they ran parallel to each other for the entire length of U.S. 830. 830 ran on the northern bank of theColumbia River (throughWashington ) whereas U.S. 30 runs on the river's southern bank, throughOregon .The stretch of (former) U.S. 830 which is now Interstate 5 was at one point co-signed with U.S. Route 99. The stretch of 830 between Maryhill and
Dallesport, Washington was formerly co-signed with U.S. Route 197; now Dallesport is the northern terminus of 197.ee also
