Dark pop

Dark Pop, also known as Fetish Pop or Electro-Goth, is a genre of electronic music combining aspects of dark wave, futurepop and synthpop.

Dark Pop was first influenced by New Wave and Electro artists like Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Anne Clark, Depeche Mode and Marc Almond, also genres like Intelligent Dance Music and Electronic Body Music were also very influencial elements.

Characteristics

The style of Dark Pop often has slow or fast electronic beat with a dark aesthetic, uplifting sythersizers and clear vocals with echo-effects.

Artists

Dark Pop began with a more Darkwave/Synthpop style like Claire Voyant, Psyche, Kirlian Camera, Android Lust, Cephalgy, Mind.In.A.Box and Absurd Minds. Later developments brought a more Futurepop element to the music, this includes artists like Blutengel, Lost Area, Tristesse De La Lune, Spiritual Cramp and In Strict Confidence.

Dark Pop Fashion

The fashion is often related to the Gothic Subculture. The music influences PVC, fishnet, rubber, velvet, wool dreads and plastic accessories from fetish dress styles.
