LCD televisions have recently become more popular on the global market, than CRT televisions. This is a big step, because it not only means that conventional CRT televisions are decreasing in demand and are becoming more and more obsolete, but also that CRT manufacturing companies have to make a better alternative to the very well received LCD screens. Samsung's Ultra SlimFit CRT television fits well into this category. It has seen most demand from people with a need for a low cost, high quality alternative toLCD orPlasma screen televisions. CRTs are still down 21% from the beginning of last year. LCDs seem to be the most popular form of display bought now, outselling plasma screens by a substantial margin. Consumers have bought into this new technology with a lot of enthusiasm as the new slim CRTs now account for 40% of CRT sales. The price difference between flat screen televisions and CRTs is substantial, allowing for CRTs to continue holding onto a large part of the market. Researchers hypothesize that they will continue to hold this large section for a while to come, even with the price of flat-panel displays dropping steadily.
