KBIG -104 produced a mixed version of "I Think I'm in Love with You" with a few samples of "Jack and Diane" lyrics and the same ending as the earlier song. Simpson recorded a Spanish version of the song titled "Talvez Es Amor".The song also included in the second volume of the soundtrack of

Commercial release
Commercial singles were set to be released in the US, however they were cancelled due to mis-prints on the back inlay. However some singles were shipped to various music stores throughout the US and sold, even though they were put on recall. The singles contained all the radio version (which is longer than the album) of the song and six club mixes. The single was however released as a 12" single in the U.S., however at the time sales of 12" singles could not compete with CD/CD-MAXI singles.
Despite the heavy popularity of teen pop and sampler songs, the base song "Jack and Diane" continued to remain more popular and overplayed on the airwaves.
Chart performance
It was more up tempo than Simpson's previous singles and became a moderate hit, reaching number twenty-one on the U.S.
Billboard Hot 100 , largely on the strength of its radio airplay; it reached the top five on Billboard'sTop 40 Mainstream chart and achieved success on the Adult Contemporary andRhythmic Top 40 charts.Charts
