Founding & Premises
The RTJGC was founded by the the legendary golf course designer

This course is located about 30 miles from downtownWashington D.C. , which is on Lake Manassas an 850 acre body of water. RTJ is to have said "the terrain is aesthetically perfect...I don't think we could have done anything better anywhere," and he has created legendary coursesSpyglass Hill ,Firestone Country Club ,Bellerive Country Club , andCongressional Country Club . RTJ actually baught this land in the hopes of attracting a world-class membership because their was a need to create a world renouned golf course in the area. RTJ called this course "my masterpiece," and it opened for play in April of 1991. This golf course has a clubhouse that is a "65,000 square foot Georgian-style mansion, with its red brick exterior and stately white columns and portico serves as the clubhouse," and this golf course does not allow for residential development, but does allow members of the golf course to construct cottages. For all the water around the golf course the only hole that a player has to deal with this is the par-three eleventh hole. [ [http://www.rtjgc.com/ Robert Trent Jones Golf Club ] ] .History (golf)
