Peace Authority

In science fiction author Vernor Vinge's 1984 novel, "The Peace War", and sequels (published together as "Across Realtime"), the Peace Authority was the name of the worldwide government that came to power in the late 1990s by exploiting the invention of stasis fields nicknamed bobbles.
