Fred Reid

Biography

Frederick Allan Reid IV (born 20 December 1989, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a young professional squash player from Canada.

Reid began playing squash at the age of three and officially turned pro at age 18. Practically born with a racquet in his hand, Reid grew up in a very racquet sport oriented family, as both his parents were outstanding squash players and were national team members. His father Fred Reid Sr., competed at the inaugural World Junior Championships in Sweden in 1978. The senior remains heavily involved in the sport and works full time for Black Knight, a company that specializes racquet sports equipment. Reid has received training and coaching from a variety of coaches, including: Mike Way, Jamie Nicholls, Martin Heath, and Jonathon Power.

Aside from squash, Reid is a trained actor, a member of ACTRA, and graduated from the Unionville High School Arts York Drama Program in 2007; the same high school/drama program that Hayden Christensen attended a few years earlier. Having an interest in magic and illusions Reid drew inspiration from master illusionist Criss Angel and former World Champion Jonathon Power, and incorporated the art of deception into his shotmaking game style, leaving most opponents with their pants around their ankles.

Reid currently resides in Rochester studying at the University of Rochester and training with coach Martin Heath, a former world no. 4. A true student of the game, Reid intends to grow as a squash player and reach new heights in the Professional Squash Association (PSA).

* Trains out of Mayfair Parkway in Toronto.
* Was an Under 11 Provincial Junior Champion in Badminton, played AA Hockey until 13, has his red belt in Tae Kwon Do, and took hip-hop dance for 4 years.
