Catalogue of USSR postage stamps

Catalogue of USSR postage stamps (or CPA catalogue) is a national catalog of RSFSR and USSR postage stamps and miniature sheets, which was published in USSR by “Soyuzpechat” Central Philatelic Agency and some other publishers. The catalogue usually republished in corpore around once in a 10–15 years. In between republications, additional issues came out every year. These issues contains descriptions of stamps and miniature sheets issued in USSR last year.

History

Early Issues

The first soviet catalogue appeared in 1923 under the editorship of Fyodor Chuchin. In what follows, several more catalogueswas published under his editorship in 1920s. [Significance of nobr|F. G. Fourth edition of the Soviet Philatelic Association catalogue published in 1933 under the editorship of nobr|V. Modestov did include a catalogue of USSR advertising stamps as well.

Postwar Issues

In 1948 and 1951 another catalogues of USSR postage stamps was published by Philatelic Office under Book-selling Association of State Publishers (KOGIZ).First postwar catalogue included all RSFSR and USSR postage issues, which was issued from 1921 to 1948, and stamps of the former issues (ciculated in 1918–1921) and special purpose stamps as well.

In 1955 in Moscow “Catalogue of USSR postage stamps” was published. It was compiled by a team of authors: nobr|M. T. Mil'kin, nobr|A. A. Shirokov, nobr|A. S. Chumakov, and nobr|A. Ya. Zezin. It was published by Main Philatelic Office of the Ministry of culture of the RSFSR.
