Primal Prime was featured in a the Botcon comics series "Primeval Dawn" which took him away from the "
Beast Machines " setting and established him on Earth shortly after the end of the "Beast Wars ".Shortly after the Maximals and Predacons left Earth, the evil Tarantulas resurfaced, planning to steal the
Autobot Matrix of Leadership and destroy theAutobot s andDecepticon s. To stop him, the alien race known as theVok sent the binary spark ofTigerhawk back to Earth to separate intoTigatron andAirazor . They then set out to create a new Emissary, one to be known as the Living Matrix. His titles also include the Prime of Justice and the One of All.Aboard the buried Ark, the Vok discovered an abandoned control suit used by the Predacon
Quickstrike to manipulate OptimalOptimus Primal 's body. Using the Matrix of Leadership contained within the nearby dormantOptimus Prime , and theTransmetal Driver , they made the suit into a Maximal. This Maximal was Primal Prime, a robot with all the knowledge of the Matrix and characteristics identical to those of Optimal Optimus. His creators gave him a number of titles, including: the Prime of Justice, the Living Matrix, and Emissary of the Vok- the last of which had originally belonged toTigerhawk . Gathering a force of warriors to his aid, Primal did battle with the forces of Tarantulas. Due to the series' cancellation, this story was never resolved, but it is known that Primal Prime took the Matrix of Leadership into himself to safeguard it, only to have it ripped out by Tarantulus. Revived by the Vok, he led his forces into the final battle against Tarantulus, defeating him and destroying his forces. After that conflict, Primal and his crew headed for
Cybertron . However, they arrived to find the planet under the despotic rule of Megatron and hisVehicon horde, along with their virus weapon. Fortunately, they met up with the last remnants of the Wreckers task force: the Maximal scientistApelinq and the ancient AutobotRodimus Prime . After being inoculated for the virus by Apelinq, who ended up lost in time, Primal Prime assumed command of the Wreckers. He kept this role even when Apelinq returned, adding several Decepticons, such asSkywarp andCyclonus , to the ranks of the Wreckers.Primal Prime and his fellow Wreckers came to the aid of
Optimus Primal , who was under attack by Vehicon forces. After a subsequent meeting with the Oracle, Prime and his forces departed Cybertron to seek allies, preparing to meet at the Nexus. However, they first had to overcome the forces of the diabolicalCryotek , a former mentor of Megatron.According to the series, Primal Prime later combines with Apelinq into the robot,
Sentinel Maximus , in an attempt to stop Cryotek.Sentinel Maximus would subsequently be pulled from the mainstream reality into the Cybertron-reality by Vector Prime in an effort to prevent
Nemesis Prime and Ramjet from destroying Primus. He later went on to battleUnicron himself alongsideOmega Prime .Fun Publications
Issue 16 of the Transformers Collectors Club magazine featured Primal Prime Apelinq and Cryotek on the cover.
