Schotten , flows through theNiddastausee dam, and the cities of Nidda,Niddatal ,Karben , andBad Vilbel . At Harheim it reaches theFrankfurt am Main city area and after 98 km enters the Main in Frankfurt's Höchst quarter.In the twenties and sixties the flow of the Nidda was regulated to reduce the risk of
floods . The original numerousmeander s turned intobayou s, while the riverbed was straightened and made deeper. Since1993 the Nidda has been partially restored to its natural state.The tributaries on the left are the
Eichelbach and theNidder and on the right theHorloff , Wetter, Erlenbach, Eschbach, Kalbach,Urselbach , Steinbach, and Sulzbach.External links
