VIDIAL is an organisation started in India to help the students by providing financial funds for their education and supports them constantly till they are in a position to meet their own financial and social needs. Apart from financial support they also offer technical, mentoring aids to school and college students. She has been registered as a "PUBLIC CHARITABLE TRUST with the Government of India".

There are students, in this very country(India), who are unable to pursue their studies because they can't afford it. Fate has its piece of irony by making the same world with lots of people like you, who are good in their hearts to help these students who can't afford. VIDIAL acts as a link between people like you and those students.

Current ProjectsScholarship Program - Operation ALFA:

Vidial gave scholarships to 42 students last year under Operation ALFA. Operation ALFA (A Lifeline for Fifty Aspirants), our Scholarship Program started in May, 2005 aims to help fifty students complete their education and make them self sustainable.The motive of Vidial is not to provide scholarships alone, but to mentor the students, hone their skills and improve their personality which would make them lead independent lives. Each person who is given scholarship is monitored by one of our members who follows their activities, maintains a rapport and mentors them.In order to improve our relationships with our beneficiaries, Beneficiary Meets are organized in our major centers of operation.For the academic year 2007-08, beneficiary meets were organized at Coimbatore, Chennai, Mayiladuthurai & Bangalore.

College Chapter:Vidial’s college chapter consists of students with social concern from colleges in India. They carry out various activities and projects.

Ethics workshop at MayiladuthuraiThe morals and ethics imaprted by our education system is decreasing day by day and demands immediate attention. Though our system produces a lot of professionals and graduates, it has failed in its primary goal of making a person capable of thinking rationaly and not get influenced by popular notions.

Vidial was presented with an opportunity to address this situation by Shanti Ashram. Shanti Ashram wanted to conduct an Ethics and Values Workshop in association with Vidial.

We didn't want to miss this golden opportunity, since we believed these kind of ventures are extremely vital in improving the society. When we were pondering over where to conduct this workshop, the Mayiladuthurai beneficiary meet came into our mind. The enthusiasm, foresight and the hard work of Mr.Kumar (Vidial Facilitator for Mayiladuthurai zone) during the meet made us believe the best place to have the workshop is Mayiladuthurai.

On 20th of April at a hall in Mayiladuthurai, Mr.Parthiban and Miss.Dhivya from Shanti Ashram, Coimbatore along with Mr.Kumar conducted the workshop which was attended by around 50 students. The Workshop theme centered around 6 Topics : Respect, Responsibility, Reconciliation, Empathy, Reforming the world and Understanding People. The day started with 'Tamil Thai Valzthu' sung by 3 kids attending the workshop followed by a crisp welcome address from Mr.Kumar.

The first event of the day was a witty treasure hunt game. After a pulsating half an hour the kids found the final treasure which was the "Respect, Responsibility, Reconciliation, Empathy, reforming the world" (written in a small paper :-)). After the game, Mr.Parthiban spoke on Respect, Responsibility, Reconciliation, Empathy, reforming the world explaining it to the kids.

Then Kids were asked to paint on T shirts and towels and posed with their colorful Shirts. In the afternoon, several games including rope games, observational games were held to impart moral value in kids.

The beauty of the day's proceedings was reflected during the feedback session when a kid came forward and said " I learnt, Whatever maybe the problem, one should never cry, instead we should spend our time and effort to find a solution".

In the end Mr.Parthiban distributed charts on child rights to representatives of different schools. Shanti Ashram certificates were distributed to all students who participated in this workshop.

We are greatful to Mr.Kumar for organizing the workshop in a very short notice. The pain he took to gather students, arranging a hall and taking care of simple logistics like buying ballons, paints, snacks etc moved us a lot.

We would to convey our sincere thanks to Mr.Kumar, Mr.Parthiban & Miss.Dhivya for giving us such an opportunity to introduce good values to the kids. We plan to do more workshops of these kind in the coming years.

The Values which are being taught by our educational system is decreasing day by day. Shanthi Ashram gave us an opportunity to address this, and we conducted an Ethics workshop at Mayiladuthurai on April 17th, 2008

Distribution of Overcoats at P.K.Girls High School, AmbatturThis was Vidial's first Endeavor apart from giving scholarships. Overcoats were given to encourage 100 girls studying at Ambattur Girls school for attending a two month workshop, during April, May 2007, for improving their language skills. We thank Mrs. Shanthi, Headmistress Ambattur School for giving us such an opportunity

Health Camp and Sports Day at Aravanaikum Anbu IllamAravanaikum Anbu Illam is a place where we are striving hard to bring more meaning into the lives of the students there. As a part of this campaign a health camp and a sports day were conducted at Illam. Both of them were certainly a moment to rejoice for the Illam students and our members
