Our Gang " shortcomedy film directed byGus Meins . It was the 136th "Our Gang " short (48th talking episode) that was released.Plot
On the last day of school, the Our Gang kids learn that their beloved teacher Miss Jones is going to be married; thus, come September, the kids teacher will be Mrs. Wilson. They are under the impression that they will have a new teacher named Mrs. Wilson, who will probably be an older widowed lady (note that very few teachers were married back then) because Miss Jones' fiancee Ralph playfully paints a frightening picture of Mrs. Wilson as "a dried-up mean old woman" ---neglecting to inform the kids that his last name is Wilson, and that Miss Jones will continue to be their teacher under her new married name. Thanks to Ralph's ill-timed joshing, the youngsters convince themselves that the only way to retain their favorite teacher is to break up the wedding --- starting with the pre-nuptual reception, where the kids surreptitiously "spike" the food with tabasco sauce, horseradish and garlic peppers. Its after they do this that they discover that Mrs. Wilson will actually be their current teacher and that she got special permission to keep her job and that Mr. Wilson will allow her to teach them as long as she likes.Unfortunately the gang winds up with the very hot spaghetti and meat balls. cite web |url=http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/225679/Teacher-s-Beau/overview |title=New York Times: Teacher's Beau |accessdate=2008-09-20|work=NY Times]
Other notes
"Teacher's Beau" marks the final "Our Gang" appearance of series stalwart Mathew "Stymie" Beard. The version included in the "Little Rascals" TV package had been severely edited back in 1971 for various reasons. It continued airing on
AMC from 2001 to 2003 in its edited form, unlike other episodes. A complete and uncut version was available on VHS home video in the 1980's and 1990's. Like the other 79 talking Hal Roach produced Our gang episodes, will be officially on DVD as of October 28, 2008.Cast
