Herman Tønnessen

Herman Tønnessen

Herman Tønnessen was a Canadian philosopher and writer whose primary influence were the pessmistic ideals of German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer and Norwegian biosophist Peter Wessel Zapffe. He lived in the 20th century, and during his lifetime published the book, "Happiness is for the pigs". He is known for his attempt to "out-zapffe Zapffe", in rejecting Peter Wessel's metaphysical theory that life is meaningless, and rather stated in his aforementioned book as a response to Zapffe's claim that "life is even less than meaningless".
