John R. Dinger

John R. Dinger was the United States ambassador to Mongolia from October 19, 2000 to June 15, 2003. Ambassador Dinger is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, with a class of Counselor. He was the minister counselor and consul general in the American Embassy in Tokyo from September 1998 until his appointment as Ambassador to Mongolia. Dinger also served as director of the State Department's Office of Press Relations and deputy director of the Office of Japanese Affairs. He has served in Johannesburg, Sapporo, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Rio de Janeiro, and London.
