Leonid Petrovich Derbenyov ( _ru. Леонид Петрович Дербенёв; April 12, 1931June 22, 1995) was an outstanding Russian poet-songwriter of the 20th century.

Life and work

Born on April 12, 1931 in Moscow.

During the Great Patriotic War, lived in the village Ulovo, Vladimir Oblast.

Debut became a poet published poems of Leonid Derbenyov, when he was in seventh grade, in the All-Union newspaper "Pionerskaya Pravda".

In 1954, graduated from Law School, then worked as a lawyer in various organizations, in conjunction wrote poetry, Some of them were printed in the "Komsomolskaya Pravda", "Izvestia", "Moskovskiy Komsomolets" and other periodicals.

Since 1959, Leonid Derbenyov worked very creative work. Created more than two thousand poems, hundreds of which have become the foundation of songs. Collaborated with renowned Soviet composers: Alexander Flyarkovsky, Arno Babajanian, Aleksandr Zatsepin, Maksim Dunayevsky, Vyacheslav Dobrynin, and many others.

The author of the texts of popular songs that make up the repertoire of Russian pop stars as Muslim Magomayev ("The best city land"), Alla Pugacheva ("Kings can all", "You have to light"), Mikhail Boyarsky ("Everything will be", "Fast train"), Lev Leshchenko ("Urban flowers", "Goodbye"), Masha Rasputina ("Live, the country", "Let me in the Himalayas", "I'll come back") and other performers.

Songs on Poems of Leonid Derbeneva are adorn many works of Soviet cinema - for example, "There is only an instant" from the movie "The Sannikov Land" or «Song about bears» from "Kidnapping, Caucasian Style".

Leonid Derbenyov was a winner of the International Song Contest in Sopot (1978), All-Union Competition "Song of the Year" (1963, 1964, 1965, 1973).

Until the last years of life actively participated in the creative life of the country.

He died on Thursday, June 22, 1995 in Moscow after a serious illness and was buried at the Vostryakovsky cemetery.

On Friday, November 22, 2002 at the square of stars at the concert hall "Russia" was opened a memorial sign with the name of Leonid Derbenyov.
