2009 World Series

2009 World Series

The 2009 World Series will be the 105th edition of Major League Baseball's championship series. The best-of-seven playoff will be played between the respective champions of the National League and the American League. The Series is tentatively scheduled to start on Wednesday, October 28, 2009; if necessary, Game Seven will take place on Thursday, November 5. The games will be televised on FOX in the United States. Home field advantage for the Series will be determined by the winner of the 2009 All-Star Game.

Assuming the current, tentative schedule holds, this World Series will have the latest starting date and ending date in the history of the event, and will be only the second World Series (following the 2001 Series) to extend into the month of November.
