CORE (Brazil)

CORE (Coordenadoria de Recursos Especiais), formed in 1969, is a national SWAT unit within the Civil Police, which originated from the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Duties

* hostage situation response
* high risk arrests
* high risk VIP's escort
* special antiterrorism operations and operations against organized crime
* rescue operations in general including physical disasters
