In August 1955 the South Parkholme Tennis Club was established at its current site Sandison Ave, Parkholme. In 1960 the clubhouse was built and financed by its founding members. South Parkholme won its first Glenelg District Tennis Association premiership in 1960 and continued on to win its first ‘A’ Grade premiership two years later. Currently the club has won 109 premierships across a range of different competitions [ [ http://www.gdta.net.au/ Glenelg District Tennis Association] ]

Recently the reserve joining the club has been renamed the ‘Woodforde Family Reserve’ to recognize the contributions the Woodforde family and in particular Ray Woodforde have made to the club over the past 40 years. Ray Woodforde has been the backbone of the club fostering a number of successful young junior players including Mark Woodforde who trained and played at the club. Big Brother Australia 2007 celebrity Joel Scalzi also played at South Parkholme. [ [ http://www.southparkholme.com/history.htm South Parkholme Tennis Club History] ]
