Hex Hector was the son of Puerto Rican and Cuban immigrants and lived all his life in
Washington Heights . He started his career asDJ at the age of 14 with a group he formed calledLittle Man Crew , a hip-hop group. He started to make remixes from his friend
Robert Clivillés , who helped him at first in the industry with a first remix experience on aLisa Lisa &Cult Jam song called "Something 'Bout Love", he worked in this remix with programmerDarrin Friedman .But one of his greatest works as a remixes was in early 1996, when he caught the attention of famousArista Records A&RHosh Gureli and was signed to remix theToni Braxton 's hit ballad song "Un-Break My Heart". He did this remix in collaboration with theSoul Solution remix team (Bobby Guy and Ernie Lake). The original remix of "Un-Break My Heart" made by Hex and Soul Solution was rejected. The label claimed it was too dark and the public would not like it. But Hex liked the remix the way it is and decided not to get involved anymore. Then, Bobby and Ernie made some changes and finished the remix the way is know today. Arista accepted the remix and it became one of the biggest dance hits in the US in the year.
Since the success of that remix, Hex Hector became famous as an A-List remixer on the level of
Junior Vasquez orJonathan Peters . He later created his own label called Ground Control Productions and teamed up with talented programmers and keyboardistDezrok andMac Quayle , with whom he built some of his greatest tunes. He also went to remix Japanese music with his friendJonathan Peters .Discography
