Lederlin 380-L

Lederlin 380-L

__NOTOC__

The Lederlin 380-L (marketed in English as the Ladybug) was an unconventional light aircraft developed in France in the 1960s and marketed for homebuilding. Its designer, François Lederlin, originally set out to update the Mignet Pou-du-Ciel, but eventually created a new aircraft sharing nothing with the "Flying Flea" but its choice of wing profile and its general layout. The "380" in the designation was a homage to the Pou-du-Ciel's H.M.380 designation.

Like its predecessor, the 380-L was a tandem wing design, with the forward wing mounted on a set of cabane struts forward of the cockpit and designed to pivot in flight, to vary its angle of incidence. In other respects, it was quite unlike the Pou-du-Ciel and more like a light aircraft of its own era, with side-by-side seating for two in a fully-enclosed cockpit and a neatly-cowled engine. The tailwheel undercarriage was fixed. The fuselage was of steel tube construction, skinned in metal at the front and fabric to the rear, and the wings were wooden, skinned in fabric.
