- TTDPatch
TTDPatch is a
computer program created by Josef Drexler, which modifies the1995 computer game "Transport Tycoon Deluxe " atruntime .Development began in 1999, primarily as a way to fix some of the bugs in the original game, but quickly branched out into adding numerous enhancements. A dedicated team of followers now contributes to development and testing of the patch. Currently, development of the latest version is in the
Beta stage. TTDPatch is written inx86 assembly language , a complicatedcomputer language, not often used inprogramming today.New features
TTDPatch now features over 160 new features and bug fixes, all of which are optional and can be turned on or off with
config file switches. Major features include the "increased vehicles" switch, allowing many thousands more vehicles, "build on slopes", which allows towns and players to build objects on sloping land, and "improved curve and mountain handling", which makesacceleration on hills and curves more realistic. Perhaps the most useful feature the Patch adds is path-based signalling (PBS), which allows multiple trains to be in onejunction at the same time if their paths do not cross.New graphics
One major feature of TTDPatch is the ability to add new vehicles, industries, cargos and other graphics into the gameplay, resulting from the successful decoding of "Transport Tycoon Deluxe"'s graphics file format (.GRF). Josef Drexler created the
.NFO programming language for writing new GRF files. A community exists to create and maintain graphics and vehicle sets for use with TTDPatch [http://www.tt-forums.net/viewforum.php?f=26] .Bugfixes
"Transport Tycoon Deluxe" itself will not run on
Windows 2000 orWindows XP ; one of the more significant bugfixes of TTDPatch is that it allows computers running theseoperating system s to be able to play the game. Other smaller fixes involve, for example, being able to remove things that have no owner or being able to deliver cargo to locations that should have been able to accept them, but previously were not. The [http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php?page=Manual TTDPatch manual] has a detailed listing of all of the bugs it fixes.Multiplayer
The Developers of TTDPatch have managed to develop a Stable Multiplayer mode for
LAN Networks, however a stablemultiplayer mode has continued to be elusive for Internet play. Those that try to Play over the Internet report the game to desynchronise quickly, leading to crashes.External links
