"Days of the New Presents: Tree Colors" (also known as the "Purple" album) is the fourth self-titled album by world music rock band Days of the New. [ [http://www.melodic.net/newsOne.asp?newsId=10651] 'Days of the New Presents: Tree Colors'] It is slated for release in early 2009. After touring for "Red", the band went on hiatus, parted ways with Interscope Records, and Meeks suffered from an addiction to amphetamines. In September 2005, Meeks declared sobriety, and started writing for a fourth record. In 2006, Meeks began a successful solo tour, and eventually, he teamed with bassist Malcolm Gold and drummer Ray Rizzo, touring throughout much of 2007.In October of 2007, recording began in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Recording continued throughout much of 2008, with the band's current tour line-up, featuring guitarist Taylor Harris, drummer Paul Culligan, bassist Brian Vinson, and cellist Rachael Beaver.
The album is said to have a very theatrical sound, with the incorporation of upright bass and cello, while still maintaining the acoustic and percussive leanings of the previous albums. Some of the songs slated for the record include "Superhero", "Touch Of Anger", "One Foot Ahead", "Sanctuary", and "Where It Ends".
