Belgica ordinarily denotes the Roman province of Gallia Belgica.
*In the Roman province, a mixture of Germanic and Gaulish peoples were referred to by Romans as Belgae
*The Seventeen Provinces of the Low Countries, later divided in:
**Belgica Foederata or the "federal" Dutch Republic
**Belgica Regia or the "royal" Southern Netherlands
*The kingdom of Belgium revived the toponym in a new form in 1830.
*RV Belgica has been the name of two Belgian scientific research vessels, of 1884 and 1984.
**The Belgian Antarctic Expedition was named after the first Belgica.

*The Belgica Mountains in Antarctica were named after the first research vessel.
*The Belgica Mounds are seamounts in the Porcupine Bight in the NE Atlantic. They were named after the RV Belgica which investigated these features during a scientific cruise in 1997.
