Lewis starting at Sun Hill with fellow PC Emma Keane, unlike her he had a close-knit working class background. Lewis spent his teenage life on the streets with is small gand in Hackney finding him self taken to the local nick a few time, where he was accused arrested for a drug offence and was depended by one of the coppers there, inspireing him into joining the Met.

Lewis was a smart guy with sharp wit, encouraged by his teachers to go to universe, he decided against the idea when he worked out the three years debt he would get so he joined the police service because he knew there was more to life than hanging out with his mates on the streets. Lewis may not have always seen eye to eye with some of the older members of the relief, but his personality always shone through. It was difficult to hold a grudge against him. He left sun hill after a harrowing but successfull undercovering operation infultrating the skens gang, he then decided to make a difference to the black community and join Operation Trident.
