Georgiana Bruce Kirby Preparatory School

Georgiana Bruce Kirby Preparatory School is a non-profit independent school, located in Harvey West, Santa Cruz, California, USA, and named after pioneer Georgiana Bruce Kirby. The school educates in grades 6-12 and the Head of School is M Joshua Karter. It serves 260 students in the 2008-09 academic year.

Established in 1994 as a grade 7-10 school, it was incorporated as non-profit in 1998 when it merged with Popper Keizer Honors High School, expanding to include grades 11-12. Grade 6 was added in 2004. In August 2006, the school administration decided to move to the former Tarantella building located at the base of Pogonip Park. At 45,000 square feet, this was double the size of the previous school. The project cost $11 million, $9 million of which was financed with a bond issue.
