Egovernment factsheets

e-Government factsheets are periodical publications of the ePractice initiative which aim to promote good practice sharing among countries of Europe in the field of delivering electronic services to the benefit of Public Administrations, Businesses and Citizens. Published biannually, Egovernment factsheets provide a detailed monitoring of the latest e-Government developments in 34 European countries (EU-27, EU-Candidate countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and offer insight and a point of reference for e-Government practitioners across Europe. Being a part of the European Commission’s information and communication policy for its prosperous e-Practice initiative, these factsheets suggest a valuable information source through which opportunities for common action can be identified, while useful conclusions can be inferred on the progress being made both at European and national levels in the field of e-Government services. Of particular interest within those factsheets are the sections referring to a European country’s:
* Demographical and political profile
* Recent e-Government history
* Strategic vision and future objectives regarding e-Government services
* National legislation on e-Government issues
* Major institutional actors located within national and regional governmental bodies
* Specific individuals and decision makers within the echelons of its governmental machinery, who are responsible for drawing and implementing e-Government policies
* Overview of the underlying technical infrastructure necessary for implementing e-Government activities
* List of electronic services targeted to suit citizens’ needs
* List of electronic services directed to enhance business activity within that country.
