Suhad Bahajri Alkendy is a Saudi chemist, the first female chemist in Saudi Arabia, she also considered the first Saudi woman that won an international award in London, her genius appeared while she was in the Scientific Section at a school in Jeddah also in the secondary school certificate exam in 1970 AD and during that time she has been rated as the fifth student in the Kingdom. Since that time Dr. Bahajri continued to reap degrees of success and excellence, after that she joined the University of Wales in Britain, but before that she got an advanced degrees in English and mathematics Morten Hall School in 1971 AD, then she has a certificate in English from the University of Oxford. On 1975 AD she graduated from University of Wales with a bachelor degree in Biochemistry then obtained a doctorate in clinical biochemistry from the same university, she wrote about the “nucleic acid enzymes in blood serum during pregnancy”.

Entering the field of chemistry

Her father was the first chemist in Saudi Arabia; he planted the first nucleus of love of chemistry since her childhood, by telling her the importance of chemistry, and encouraging her through making few simple tests with her, her father graduated from Cairo University, which was called Fouad I University at that time. When she began her study in Britain for biochemistry her professor of chemistry encouraged her to study this major.

Achievements

During the two and a half years she conducted scientific researches in nutrition section, in King Fahad scientific research laboratory her researches result have been selected about influence of chromium in pregnant women on mice and the results proved that the treatment of chromium leading to a reduction in the level of blood sugar to normal limits for pregnant women and thereby reduce the use of daily doses of insulin, this research was approved and registered in King's College in London one of the world's most prestigious universities. she discussed the results of this study in Spain and she was honored with the scientific team.she did many of the scientific research, one of them were impact of chlorine on the residents of the city of Jeddah also the causes of obesity in Saudi society and the impact of food on the health of the local community.In 2002 AD she was awarded prize for the best summary of a joint research with (King's College) was presented research at the Global Conference on Health and Nutrition in London.Bahajri Participated in World Conference that was attended by about fifty world experts from the highest levels such as the United States, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Britain, Sweden and others, and Dr. Bahajri was the only arabian participation because the World Society for Medical Laboratory formally requested her participation in the conference, the reason is the research that was about the relationship of the natural elements and nowadays diseases.
