Kidderminster inWorcestershire .Kidderminster station opened with the extension of the
Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton railway fromWorcester toStourbridge in1852 by the GWR. The station building, of amock Tudor design, survived until1968 when it was demolished owing to the effects ofdry rot and replaced byBritish Rail with the small brick building that stands today.The
Severn Valley Railway 's southern terminus shares the same station approach road and is known as "Kidderminster Town" to distinguish it from theNational Rail station.There is a car park for 400 cars, administered by London Midland, in part of the old goods yard between the two railway stations. The Severn Valley Railway has its own car park on the town centre side of their station.
Access between the two platforms is at present via the road overbridge, visible in the background of the lower image right.During December 2007 construction works commenced on a new footbridge, which will include lifts providing step-free access to both platforms. The signal box (a short distance to the south of the station) is still known as Kidderminster Junction. This controlled the junction to the Severn Valley Line until its closure in the 1970s. Its junction status has since been restored as it now controls the connection between the National Rail network and the heritage Severn Valley Railway.

London Midland , and these run roughly north-east toLeamington Spa via Stourbridge Junction and Birmingham Snow Hill, and south toWorcester .The service between Kidderminster and Birmingham is heavily used, with effect from December 2006, four trains per hour during the day time to Birmingham; the service towards Worcester about two trains per hour in the day and one an hour in the evening.
