Sonu ke Kisse (or Sonu's Stories) is a collection of three stories. Sonu is a boy of unspecified age. The three stories deal with incidents in the life of Sonu, and narrate the adventures and misadventures of Sonu in these incidents.

In the nature of bilingual books, the book narrates all of the story in Hindi as well as English. The book introduces a sentence in Hindi, and then provides a transliteration of the text in English. This is followed by an English translation of the text.

Plot summary

The book consists of three short stories.

In the first story, Sonu ka Sikka (Sonu's coin), Sonu is given a coin to play with. The coin is lost, and becomes a plaything of various animals, who keep on losing it in their own turn. Eventually, the coin ends up back with Sonu when he ends up with a fish on his plate which had swallowed the missing coin.

The second story, Sonu ki Macchali (Sonu's fish), has Sonu visiting the zoo with his mother. He wants to get an animal for a pet, but keeps of rejecting all the usual animals for various reasons until he ends up with a fish and he decides to keep a fish as a pet.

The third story, Sonu ki bahan (Sonu's sister), has Sonu calling his sister Soni to play outside. Soni keeps on delaying coming out in order to dress up her doll, and finally comes out when the doll is fully dressed.

Characters

The main character in the book is Sonu, who is a boy of indeterminate age. Sonu lives with his mother, who is not identified by any name other than Mummy. Sonu has a sister who is called Soni.
