- Forsakar Nature Reserve
The Forsakar Nature Reserve ( _sv. Naturreservatet Forsakar) is situated in the North-Eastern part of the
Scania province ofSweden , in theKristianstad municipality near the village ofDegeberga . The ravine runs from west to east and is likely a product oferosion during some of theice age s.The Forsaker Creek ( _sv. Forsakarbäcken) runs through the nature reserve and passes the Forsakar Waterfalls ( _sv. Forsakar Vattenfall), the upper fall having a free fall of 7.4
meter s and the lower fall having a free fall of 10.6 meters. The bedrock of the ravine consists ofGneiss . The nature reserve has three minordam s that were erected during the late 19th century and the early 20th century to createhydroelectricity . The dams are nowadays dismantled and inactive.The vegetation of the Forsaker Nature Reserve is dominated by beech forest. Longside the creek is a more humid forest vegetation including
alder , ash, elm and hornbeam.Characteristicresident bird s of the nature reserve are amongst others thewhite-throated dipper ,grey wagtail and thewinter wren . Common birds of the beech forest are thewood warbler ,hawfinch ,tawny owl and thelesser spotted woodpecker . Amongstmammal s in the nature reserve the mink and pine marten are common. When it comes to insects some rarily seen species have been reported such asrove beetles , carrion beetles, the Agathomyia wankowiczi fly and the endangeredCarabus intricatus beetle.References
