dimensions = The Estadio Internacional Monterrey is a proposed stadium for the Mexican city of Monterrey, Nuevo León. If constructed it will open in 2011.
Features
*Depending on the occasion, the Estadio Internacional Monterrey would be able to change colors, using fiber optic lens. It will be the same mechanism used in Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany
*The stadium will have a retractile roof.
*This will be the first stadium to be build on top of a bridge, to let the river run naturally underneath it.
*The stadium will have a capacity for 75,000 spectators.
Legal Situation
Even though CF Monterrey has decided to built its own stadium, the Estadio Internaional Monterrey still has to be shared by both clubs. The two main reasons are: (1)The size of the stadium requires both clubs to function properly, (2) The UANL´s contract has not yet concluded with the Univesrity.
Fact
The stadium will give more opportunities for a possible bid for 2020 Olympic Games, a bid that the city of Monterrey has been looking since 2005.
