English language non-profit audio broadcast television service. VoicePrint is an audio-only service that broadcasts readings of news articles and features from more than 600 of Canada’s top newspapers and magazines, as well as audio theatre. It is owned by The National Broadcast Reading Service Inc (NBRS). VoicePrint is a volunteer-based service, where individuals perform voice recordings at various centres across the country.VoicePrint is licensed by the
Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), and went on the air in 1990. The CRTC licensed VoicePrint as a "must-carry" service in 2001, meaning all digital cable and satellite providers must carry the service. VoicePrint is primarily accessed on the secondary audio program (SAP) ofCBC Newsworld , while some providers carry the service on a separate channel through digital cable.
