Andy Russell (Canadian author)

Andy Russell was born 1915 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. And died at Pincher Creeks June 1, 2005 age 89. He was a famed conservationist and author who loved the wilderness. He was also a noted outfitter mountain guide, photographer, television broadcaster, and story teller. In 1976 he received the Julian T. Crandall Award for his efforts in conservation and in 1977 he was honored with the Order of Canada from the Governor General with approval from the Queen. He Married Anna Kathleen Riggall and had four sons with one daughter. He describes his education as "limited formal education, considerable rocky mountain variety." But with little formal eduacation, he went on to write many books including "Grizzly country", "Horns in the High Country", "Trails of a Wilderness Wanderer, and "Adventures with wild animals".
