Hey Mama (Kanye West song)

Unref|date=October 2008

"Hey Mama" is a song by rapper Kanye West from his 2005 album "Late Registration". West co-wrote the song with Donal Leace and co-produced the song with Jon Brion. The song contains a sample of "Today Won't Come Again" by The KayGees.

The song is a ballad homage to his mother, Donda West, describing his affection and appreciation for her raising him amidst personal hardships and instilling her values onto him.

When his mother died due to complications from cosmetic surgery on November 10, 2007, the song has been used post-mortem by Kanye West as a tribute to his late mother's life, most notably in all of his concerts on his "Glow in the Dark" tour. The song has also been used as background music by fans who created tribute videos to his mother on YouTube. In his first public performance since his mother's passing on November 17, 2007 in Paris, France, West broke down into tears when the instrumentals to the song were played.

On February 11, 2008, West performed a version of the song at the 50th Grammy Awards.
