Bonduelle is a French company producing processed vegetables.

History

In 1853 Louis Bonduelle-Dalle und Louis Lesaffre-Roussel started producing Korn and Jenever in Marquette-lez-Lille. In 1862 they acquired a property in Renescure. In 1901 the company assets were split between the families.
The descendants of Bonduelle-Dalle, Pierre und Benoit Bonduelle started in 1926 to produce canned food. In the early days they grew peas on their own fields which were subsequently tinned manually.
With the sterilization process developed by Nicolas Appert they were able to retain the vitamins and the freshness of the vegetables. The family business produced around 120,000 cans of vegetables per year. After the end of World War II the demand grew strongly and Bonduelle started to purchase vegetables from farmers around Renescure. Little has changed today, only the food processing grew more professional.
