Thomas Circle Singers

Thomas Circle Singers (TCS) is an independent chamber chorus located in Washington DC. It donates concert ticket proceeds to nonprofit organizations. TCS has raised $100,000 for various Washington DC-based charitable causes over the last six years. [http://www.thomascirclesingers.org/about.html]

The group was founded in 1976 with the support of Luther Place Memorial Church, and is currently located at National City Christian Church on Thomas Circle in Washington DC. TCS was named Washingtonian of the Year 2000 by Washingtonian Magazine [The Washingtonian, January 2001, page 53] [http://www.washingtonian.com/articles/people/6201.html] and artistic director James Kreger was honored with WETA-FM’s Hometown Hero award. Recent concert seasons have included Gerald Finzi’s In terra pax, Irving Fine’s “The Choral New Yorker,” Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, the North American premiere of Bob Chilcott’s “Canticles of Light,” and the world premiere of Daniel Gawthrop’s “The Bond of Charity,” commissioned by TCS to celebrate its 25th anniversary season. The 2005-2006 concert season included the world premiere of Robert Convery’s “Glory to the Child,” commissioned by TCS to celebrate its thirtieth anniversary season. The 2007-2008 season featured the world premiere of a choral work commissioned by TCS, “A Heart in Hiding (The Passionate Love Poems of Emily Dickinson)” by [http://www.gwynethwalker.com/ Gwyneth Walker] .
