- Enuani dialect of Igbo
Enuani is an Igbo related
dialect spoken inNigeria by Anioma people inDelta State . This dialect is one of the hundreds of Igboid languages inherited from theIgbo people largely concentrated in the southeastern part of the country. The people who speak Enuani dialect are most located in the Delta North, Delta State. Enuani also typifies tonality in sound but like the rest of Igbo dialects in Anioma, peculiarly differs from the standard Igbo pronunciation. This language is sometimes referred to as Delta IboAreas of concentration
Enuani is one of the four major Igbo dialects spoken by the Anioma people in Delta north with the rest of this dialects being
Ukwuani , Ika (Agbor) and Aboh. However, Enuani is spoken closer to Igbo language. The area of concentration of these people mostly comprises of Ibusa, Asaba, Ogwashi-Uku, Illah, Issele-Uku, Okpanam, Ubulu-Uku, Ubulu-Unoh, Oko commnunities, Ejeme-Aniogo, Onitsha-Ugbo, ugbolu, Idumuje-Uno, Idumuje-Ugboko, Onicha-Uku, Onicha-Ukwu and the rest of them. This dialect as spoken in all of these areas are homogenous in accent and mutually intelligible. It is a slo remarkable that this dialect has natural standardised orthonography and has gained wider acceptance linguistically.Usage
Although this dialect is hardly written as much as it spoken but it is adjudged very easy for such adoption since the dialect is spoken close to other Igbo dialects of the people located within Anambra basin.
