footnotes = Baligubadle is the third main city after Hargeisa and Gabiley in the Woqooyi Galbeed region of Somalia. It lies on the border between northwestern Somalia and Ethiopia. It is renowned for its farming industry and it is where most of the milk and milk-products are produced in the whole of the region.

Officially, Baligubadle is a district region with the highest population and revenue among all other district areas and that is why its inhabitants are becoming increasingly frustrated for not being given a full regional status. Now, in the forthcoming elections of the Somaliland region of Somalia, this has become one of the political agendas for some of the parties such as Kulmiye , UDUB and UCID.

Baligubadle is Historical central city of SNM ("Somali National Movement"). It is the capital and centre of this movement. It was the centre of coordination for the military activities and political issues against the Siyad barre regime.

Historically, the "San'ani" (tobnaad) and "Kodbuur" movemeant(Jabhad) from this region became the first and the most successful military wing of the SNM struggle against Siyad Barre's regime. They invaded Hargeisa, Berbera and their suburbs with help of their brothers Lixaad, Afraad & Shanaad wings from the west direction. Sideedaad and Sagaalaad wings from east direction.
