Helen Galland

Helen Galland (June 1 1925 – 1 September 2008) was an American retail executive who served as president of Bonwit Teller from 1980 to 1983. Life and career

Galland was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Washington Heights, Manhattan. She earned a degree in psychology from Hunter College. In 1945, while taking graduate classes in retailing at New York University, she took a position at Lord & Taylor. In 1950, she took a position at Bonwit Teller and rose in the ranks until leaving to be President of Wamsutta Trucraft Home Fashions in 1975. After returning to Bonwit Teller in 1980, she became President until 1983. She was the first woman to serve on the board of the Whitman Corporation.

After leaving Bonwit Teller, she founded Helen Galland Associates.Moin, David (September 4, 2008).
