- Thomas P. Campbell
Thomas P. Campbell (born 1962) is a
tapestry curator who is scheduled to become the ninth director of theMetropolitan Museum of Art effective January 1, 2009.Campbell was born and raised in
Cambridge ,England . He received a B.A. in English language and literature from theUniversity of Oxford in 1984 and a Master's degree at theCourtauld Institute of Art in 1987 and a PhD from Courtauld in 1999. He joined the Metropolitan Museum's Department of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts in 1995 rising from Assistant Curator (1995-97) to Associate Curator (1997-2003) to Curator. On September 10, 2008, it was announced that he would replace
