Maron Shorthand is a shorthand method created by Brazilian graduate of Faculdade de Medicina da Bahia (Bahia Medicinal College) Afonso Maron. The method is made to be used with the Portuguese language but has been adapted to others, such as English and Spanish.

Characteristics

* Vowels are only placed either in the beginning or end of a word, but never in between.
* It is commonly assumed that each consonant may be followed by a vowel. If it is followed by two vowels, one dot is placed; three vowels, two dots; etc...
* Nasal syllables (such as the first two letters in the Portuguese word "amplo") are separated by a small space from the rest of the word and the nasal consonant is removed, leaving only the vowel.
* Declarative sentences are ended with a long vertical line (note: this vertical line is longer than the one used to represent the letter F).

Examples

The first example translates from Portuguese as "My shorthand students are very studious."The second translates as "Sane mind in a sane body."
