Luís Teotónio Pereira

Luís Teotónio Pereira (Lisbon, Sagrado Coração de Jesus, March 17, 1895 –) was a Portuguese Politician and Diplomat, son of João Teotónio Pereira, Jr. (Lisbon, 1869 – Lisbon, São Domingos de Benfica, 1948), Administrator of the Companhia de Seguros Fidelidade, and wife Virgínia Hermann von Boetischer (Lisbon, Santa Engrácia, 1871 – Lisbon, 1969), paternal grandson of João Teotónio Pereira (1832-1916) and wife Clara Sobral (1840-Freixo de Espada à Cinta, Fornos, 1910) and maternal grandson of Maximilian August Hermann von Boetischer, an Engineer, linked to the instalation of the telephones in Portugal, and wife Maria José da Silva. His younger brother Pedro Teotónio Pereira was also a Politician and a Diplomat.

Career

He was a Deputy to the Assembleia Nacional, a Procurator to the Câmara Corporativa and a Mayor of Almada during the Estado Novo and the government of António de Oliveira Salazar, like his father Administrator of the Companhia de Seguros Fidelidade, President of the Grémio de Exportadores de Vinhos e dos Exportadores de Azeite, Grand Officer of the Order of the Industrial Merit. Marriage and children

He married at the Estrela Basilica in Lisbon on December 17, 1919 Alice de Azevedo Gomes de Bettencourt (Angra do Heroísmo, Sé Catedral, December 31, 1895 – Lisbon, Lapa, June 11, 1957), Diplomed with the Course of Painting (Watercolor painting) with Roque Gameiro, daughter of Severiano de Bettencourt and wife Maria Adelaide de Ávila Gomes, and had issue, six children.
