- HAACH Cougars
The HAACH (Howell Athletic Association of Christian Homeschoolers) Cougars located in Howell MI, started out in 2003 with boys Junior High Soccer followed by Girls Volleyball and Boys Basketball that Winter. Adding Varsity soccer in the fall of 2005. So far HAACH has 5 state championships all at the JV level. In '07 the Girls JV Volleyball and Basketball teams took states, and then they both repeated in '08, while the boys JV Basketball team also took states in '08.
Soccer
HAACH has one of the best homeschool soccer teams in the Midwest, as they finished 3rd at regional's last year, after losing to eventual runners up Bluegrass United being down 1-0 late in the match star striker Stephen Williams scored an impressive goal to take it to extra time and eventually penalties where they lost after a few of their players blew the ball of the bar. But they came back later on in the day to take 3rd place beating the Tippecanoe Tornados.
This season only 6 varsity players are returning after 9 graduated and 3 others dropped out. But with 4 solid players coming up from JV and some good players joining the program they will be able to put a strong starting 11 out there.
So far Freshman forward Paul Florczak has 9 goals in 4 matches, he's scored almost as many as last years leading scorer Stephen Williams did the whole year and they are currently 4-0. But their first real test comes on Tuesday September 9th at home against Hudsonville. [http://www.haach.org Official Cougars Website]
